Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Heavy Equipment Directory, a service and brand operated by Brian DeVore Consulting LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use www.heavyequipmentdirectory.com (the "Site").

Information We Collect

Personal Information

We collect information that you provide directly to us, including:

  • Name and contact information (email address, phone number)
  • Company information
  • Account credentials
  • Equipment listing details
  • Transaction information
  • Communications with us
  • Optional fixed-choice seller research responses

Automatically Collected Information

When you use our Site, we automatically collect certain information, including:

  • Device information (browser type, operating system)
  • IP address
  • Usage data
  • Cookies and similar technologies
  • With analytics consent, low-cardinality listing-creation milestones and failure categories associated with your authenticated account and listing

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain our services
  • Process transactions
  • Communicate with you
  • Improve our services
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Prevent fraud and abuse

Listing Creation Analytics

When an authenticated seller has accepted our analytics cookie, we record limited milestones such as starting the listing form, making meaningful progress, saving a draft, encountering a validation or upload category, attempting publication, and publishing successfully. This telemetry does not contain listing form values, names, email addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses, user-agent strings, page URLs, or advertising parameters.

A random listing-attempt key is stored in session storage and one-way hashed by our server before persistence. Raw milestone events are private, are used to improve listing completion and reliability, and are retained for up to 180 days. Deleting the associated account removes these seller-linked events. Revoking analytics consent stops new browser-generated listing milestones from being recorded.

Optional Seller Research

If you have a saved private-seller draft, we may invite you to answer two optional fixed-choice questions about what is delaying publication and which paid assistance, if any, you would consider. We associate the response with your account and store a bounded snapshot of your draft count and oldest draft age so we can interpret the response. The research form does not collect free text, contact details, listing contents, IP address, or device information.

Seller research is used to prioritize product improvements and evaluate potential optional services. Answering does not purchase, enroll, renew, or change your free listing. Deleting your account removes the associated seller research response. Diagnostic Google Analytics events are sent only after analytics-cookie consent and contain fixed research choices without seller or listing identifiers.

Information Sharing

We may share your information with:

  • Service providers who assist in our operations, including Supabase for data and authentication, AWS/S3 for infrastructure and asset storage, and Stripe for payments
  • Other users (for listings and communications)
  • Legal authorities when required by law
  • Business partners with your consent

Sponsorship and Advertising Information

For a prospective or paying sponsor, we may process business and authorized-contact information, the submitted public creative and destination, review and agreement evidence, booking and billing records, support communications, and aggregate placement results. HED hosts approved creative; the dealer-network product does not include sponsor-hosted tracking pixels, scripts, or iframes.

Subject to a visitor's analytics consent, HED may record an eligible sponsorship impression or qualified click using a random session key that is one-way hashed before storage. Detailed events are private and retained for no more than 90 days. Sponsors may receive aggregate reporting, but not raw session identifiers, IP addresses, user-agent strings, or form contents.

We share the information needed to create and reconcile a sponsor payment with Stripe, including business contact, billing address, order, accepted terms version, and payment metadata. Stripe processes that information under its own privacy practices. HED retains commercial agreement, payment, refund, dispute, and reconciliation evidence as needed for business, security, legal, and accounting purposes.

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

Your Rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information
  • Opt-out of marketing communications
  • Object to certain processing of your data

Deletion requests do not require us to erase commercial agreement, payment, refund, dispute, tax, fraud-prevention, security, or other records that we must or reasonably need to retain.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
